The brief: a daily news publisher needed a morning send that felt like a real masthead, not a marketing email. We built a serif-led editorial layout with a bold Playfair masthead, a dated edition line, and a full-bleed lead photograph, so the inbox preview reads like the front page.
The structured block is a thumbnail-plus-headline top-stories list: a 140px image beside each story's section eyebrow, headline, dek, and a 'Read more' link. It stacks cleanly on mobile and gives readers three distinct entry points beyond the lead, which is what drives multi-click sessions on a news send.
Deliverability and rendering were handled with inline styles, bulletproof table layout, and a responsive @media block that makes thumbnails go full-width under 620px. Every headline and section can be merged from a CMS feed, so the daily edition number, date, and stories populate automatically.
