Confirmation emails are a brand's highest open rate of the entire lifecycle, so the brief was to treat the receipt as a marketing surface without undermining trust. We used a clean white layout, a calm green accent, and a checkmark badge to instantly signal 'order confirmed,' then rendered a fully structured order-summary block with line items, thumbnails, quantities, and a totals row pulled from the e-commerce order object.
The cross-sell does the commercial work. Below the receipt and the 'Track my order' CTA sits a three-item 'You may also like' trio, each product chosen by complementarity to the items purchased rather than generic bestsellers, which keeps the recommendation feeling helpful instead of opportunistic. The automation fires immediately on the order-placed event and personalizes name, order number, date, and the entire item set, so a single template serves every order.
The receipt and trio are all nested presentation tables with inline styles; the cross-sell row carries the .stack class so the three cards reflow vertically on mobile, and the order lines remain legible at small widths. Images are curl-verified Unsplash photos with alt text and fixed thumbnail dimensions, and the hidden preheader surfaces the order number in the inbox so the message is recognizable before it's even opened.
